Reach
Reaching everything in a conventional wardrobe can be difficult while in a wheelchair. Thankfully, there are solutions to help with this. Pull-down rods allow you to store your clothes higher-up and bring them down when you need to take them off the rod. In this way, you can make full use of the vertical space without having to reach up high. Similarly, with pull-out shelves, you can make use of the depth of your wardrobe without having to reach inside.
Pull-out shelves slide out of your wardrobe, making it easier to reach things at the back. In addition to using these, everything must be placed within your reach. A pull-out shelf isn't going to help if it's too high or low for you to reach.

Space
Space is another important consideration in the design of an accessible wardrobe. This includes the size and placement of the wardrobe. To use the wardrobe, you need enough space to get in front of it. You want the wardrobe to be placed somewhere with enough space for you to move to it and to turn around. This will be dependent on the layout of your bedroom and your furniture (some of which may need to be moved around to accommodate). If your wardrobe is too big, it can obstruct your movement, making the wardrobe inaccessible.
If you want a walk-in wardrobe, the opposite is true. A walk-in wardrobe needs to be big enough for you to move freely. If you can't move around, it will be difficult to store and retrieve your belongings. Furthermore, the entrance to the walk-in closet needs to be big enough to accommodate a wheelchair.
Doors
On the topic of entrances, the type of wardrobe door(s) used is also important. Depending on the style of the wardrobe, certain types of doors can make it difficult to access. Ideally, you want sliding doors or an open face. The door is especially important in walk-in wardrobes. A door that opens inwards, for example, may make part of the wardrobe inaccessible. Essentially, when choosing a door, you want to make sure to keep in mind the other design principles discussed above. Your door of choice shouldn't limit the space available, nor should it require the user to have to reach further than is reasonable.
